VSCC Lakeland Trial November 2011

vscc lakeland trialThe 2011 Lakeland Trail saw Patrick Blakeney Edwards back at the wheel of his 30/98 after a few years trialling absence. The engine has been rebuilt with a new head, new block, cam and high compression pistons. It's performance is now staggering and 100 mph easily achievable in full road trim. Even with the front seat occupied by local Frazer Nash hero, Dick Smith, the slightly hungover crew failed to win and just claimed a 3rd class award after failing the restart at buttermere Old road. In contrast Blakeney Motorsport's newest recruit Eddie Williams went to bed early on Friday and drove a fantastic trial in his Austin 7 coming 2nd overall and only 4 points behind Richard Parsons in the GN. Blakeney Motorsport will now build a supercharged engine for Eddie's Austin so he can use 19" wheels and a higher ratio 1st gear, which will make it a much more competitive car for next year's event.
